triadruid: Pseudocode for "If nothing else, remember this." (codemonkey)
[personal profile] triadruid posting in [community profile] dwstones
Dreamwidth apparently got overzealous and deactivated active communities in their effort to stop the "username landgrab". (oops, twice)

There should have been a betting pool for when the first script-related administrative error came up...

Yeah. Bound to happen sooner or later. Mistakes are inevitable. The important thing, IMO, is how they're dealt with, and so far, I've been very impressed with DW in that regard.

This is on the assumption that a script can tell if a community has a "valid post". I very much doubt it can.

I don't believe those were mistakes, just someone caught out who was trying to claim they were. If they had been, I think this *would* be a serious issue.

Based on my investigating, those are both related to the same user (the commenter in the second link), who registered about twenty communities for her tiny group of friends. I don't think it was undeserved.

Does that include [personal profile] single and [community profile] thequestionclub? Not entirely sure it's related, but both of those suddenly disappeared.

(ETA: I see the latter has been reinstated.)

You mean [personal profile] naughty?

I know she created a number of Sims-related communities, which I wouldn't have found that unusual since she's moderately active in the LiveJournal Sims "scene" (and I think also maintains some related communities there).
